These days, nerds are everywhere. Twitter profiles proclaiming oneself as a nerd abound. Ironic nerd eyeglasses have been popularized by celebrities and adopted by the masses. There’s even a nerd dating website, and I swear at least one of your colleagues is on it. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Nerd candy made a comeback. Blue tongues for everyone!

No longer confined to dusty basement computer labs and all-night LAN parties, one would imagine that the great 21st century nerd outage would result in all of us getting a little smarter when it comes to all things techy. Right? Wrong. Here are 10 things I’ve learned from having my very own live-in nerd. These may sound basic, but they’ve eliminated 90% of my tech problems over the past seven years.

  1. When there’s an update, do it. It sounds silly, but I used to think that those little updates…

Cleaning Out Your Ears With Peroxide

If you’re like me, you get clogged ears from time to time and you need to clean out the wax in them.  I just got done cleaning them with Peroxide.  It works rather well for that purpose.

You probably shouldn’t use Peroxide if you have a ear infection.  It might make it burn a little.  Here is a good ehow article on how to clean out your ears.  Just click on the image to take you straight to the article.

Although the article is a good one, I think they over dramatized the whole process a little bit.  Yeah, sure, you get a little bit of bubbling and what not, but if you won’t get no where near the uncomfortableness that the article appears to perceive.  Enjoy.

Is This Question Even Fair?

Is this even a fair question?

Is abortion an acceptable option for rape victims and women whose lives are in danger?

I had to skip that question. This is a tricky question. For example, Normally, I’d say no, that it’s not an acceptable option. The mother could be destroying the next great inventor, the next great cure, the next great leader.

However, we have to step back sometimes and look at the alternatives. If the Mother is really in trouble and her life is in danger, then sure, abort and have a C-Section, especially if the child is going to be born prematurely.

In that situation, you’re better off having an abortion, otherwise, the child might have to live with all kinds of conditions, or even be retarded. That’s something the Mother will have to decide. Would she be ok with the child living like that?

But, destroying one life for another, just so that person doesn’t have to live with the feeling or remember the rape or the victimization, that’s just as cruel and barbaric as a tyrant leader.

At least they woman can live a good live, knowing that they gave the child the best chance they could have. If you don’t want the child, don’t destroy it, adopt it out. Who knows, after carrying it for so long, she might even change her mind.

Most Common Problems Guys Have In Relationships

Most people look at single men and don’t think that they have the slightest clue about Relationships.  Truth is, you don’t have to be in a relationship(s) to know a thing or to about them.  There is this little thing I like to call Observation.

A single guy who has never had a single date, might know more about relationships than a guy who’s been on hundreds of dates.  See the big picture here?  The single guy can learn from every one of the dating guy’s mistakes, that is if he follows the Golden Rules of Learning.

Listen, Absorb, and Apply.  Those are the three Golden Rules of Anything really.

Let’s take dating for example; the single biggest problem I’ve seen with dating, is that Guys don’t (Listen.)  Yep, that one little issue is the single biggest cause of break ups in America’s Young Adults today.  Men just don’t listen.

They’ll completely ignore half of what’s said, one fourth of what’s said they only catch half of it, and the other fourth, men tend to be on the So So page.

What’s the So So page?  Men listen up, because you’ll need this piece of advice.  The So So page is when Men are listening, but don’t say anything or do anything.

For example: when a Woman offers a suggestions and the man just ignores it, merely because a Woman offered it.  That’s the So So page.  Ladies, this issue can easily be fixed……

Get A Bigger Stick!

Absorbing what you learn is a big part of life.  We can’t live with out learning, otherwise, we’d be a broken sponge.  That’s right, learning is a lot like a Sponge, first you have to absorb it, in order to use it.

But, don’t absorb too much, otherwise all that information will overflow and be lost, or simply put, useless.  It’s just like anything else you do, from time to time you need a break.

Applying what you learn is by far the most crucial part of any relationship.  If you do something wrong and you continue to do it, time and time again, of course she’s going to get pissed of or even leave your lazy butt.  Because either A) you’re not learning anything or B) you’re not applying what you learn.

See, absorption and Application work hand in hand.  If you’re out their and your Truck breaks down?  What do you do?  You learn what you need in order to fix the problem and go about fixing it.

Guys listen to this, because I’m only going to say it once.  Women, are a lot like Trucks, they need regular maintenance and lots of TLC.  Otherwise, you may as well hang up the hat and boot yourself out the door.

Relationships don’t have to be hard, nowadays, young adults tend to over complicate things.  Go simple, or go home.

The Problem With Using Old Technology

I’m sure it’s happened to you, you go to use a piece of older technology you have, only to find out that you’re missing something.  This can be a headache.

My problem?  I was going to use my old Sony Handycam, but in order to get the video off the tape, I needed a Firewire cable, which I didn’t have.  Not just any Firewire cable though, a 4 pin to 6 pin cable.

This is annoying simply because I spent half a day running around town looking for one and no one had one.  We went to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Staples, Radio Shack…..ok Radio Shack had one, but it was like $35 for one 6ft Cable?  Seriously?  That explains why they still have theirs in the store.

I came home and did a little research.  Low and behold, I can get what I need for my Camera for a mere $5.  That’s it.  Radio Shack can keep their $35 cable.  I’ll put that extra $30 in my pocket.

Where did I find this cable at?  Amazon of course, of all the places.  Now, all I have to do is just order the dang thing and be done with it.  Then I’ll have better quality video for my Youtube channel and I’ll be able to mess around with video editing a bit better.

Problem Solved.  You can get a 4 pin to 6 pin cable for your Handycam by clicking the image below.

Boycott These Supporters of SOPA

SOPA – Stop Online Piracy act is a big mistake if it manages to go through the House representatives.  It will give the current entertainment industries enough control over the internet, they’ll be able to shut down any site they want.

This is a bad thing for all internet users.  This could very well mean the demise of a lot of small websites.  Could even me a lot more hassle and headaches coming from Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and a whole slue of other big sites.

If SOPA were to pass, the entertainment business would have the power to censor nearly half the websites out there or more.  That’s how many websites have Copyrighted material on the web.

According to statistics, nearly 70% of young people actually have or have had pirated content in their possession.  The web could change drastically if we allowed SOPA to happen.

As of this writing, GoDaddy “Claims” to have withdrawn support of the SOPA act.  Yet, many don’t believe that they have, this is because of a few comments made by GoDaddy representatives.

Go ahead, let’s boycott these companies ans supporters of SOPA and show them we’re not going to let them have control over our web.  China is already making a bad impact on the Web experience with the censorship they’ve put up.  Let the web remain free and open for all to use.

Vlogbrothers – An Internet Sensation!

I’ve been watching the Vlogbrothers for some time now.  It seems though that quite a bit of people have been doing the same thing.  The great thing about the Vlogbrothers is that they have their own website for their followers.

These guys have been making videos every day for the past several years.  It started off as a video vlog to each other.  It actually became popular and they started Nerdfightaria.  Their own little Continent.  It eventually grew into them having to be punished by Nerdfightaria if they didn’t post a video on the dedicated day.  So it went clock work, John had one day, and Hank had the other.  Don’t worry, the punishments weren’t severe, only waxing their face, etc.  You know, the usual.

Many of the Vlogbrother’s followers are known as NerdFighters.  No, these aren’t people who go out and bully or fight Nerds.  In fact, many of these people happen to be Nerds themselves.  Many of them aren’t though.  Basically, it’s a collection of really cool people that want to decrease the “World Suck.”

What’s “World Suck?”  Well, as you may have guessed, “World Suck” is well, just that, things that suck in the world.  Those things range from Poverty, to actually getting out and planting more trees.  It’s all about doing good for the World.  I mean, who wouldn’t want to do Good for the World?

Every year, they have their “Project For Awesome,” which is where people get together and donate, to charities.  These donations come from direct donations, purchasing Vlogbrothers items, purchasing short stories, and more.

If you’d like to join a community of Awesome People and hang out with people who care about reducing “World Suck,” then the Vlogbrothers just might be for you.  They even have a catch phrase.  It’s “DFTBA.”  Don’t Forget To Be Awesome.
