USB Computer for Under $200?

Have you ever wanted a Portable Computer so small, that you could put it into your pocket?  No, I’m not talking about a Smartphone.  I’m talking about a Computer the size of a USB Flash Driver.  That’s right, a computer you can actually put in your shirt pocket.

With two Processors, a Dual and a Quad core, you can’t go wrong.  There will be plenty of computer power packed into this tiny space.  It houses 1 gig of RAM and will have up to 64 gig of HardDrive space.  How’s that for power?  That’s, almost more powerful than my current PC that I use.  The only thing they could do better that would make it more powerful, would be add more RAM to it.

What’s the best part?  It won’t break the bank.  The estimated price of this cool gadget is estimated to be at “Just under $200.”  So, if you’re looking for a cool gadget that you can show off to your friends and it won’t break the bank, then you won’t be disappointed.  Did I mention that you could run Ubuntu and Ice Cream Sandwich on there?  Even better reason to pick one up.

What do you do with your computers spare time?

Many people do what they need to do on their computers and just go about their day.  What if you could put that computer to use actually providing valuable data to the Scientific community?

There are actually several screen savers that will allow you to take part in Scientific data.  There are also programs that you can download and install such as Community World Grid.

This program will allow you to take part in a minute way by allowing your computer to process information for Scientific Research.  These research programs include data on Cancer, Aids, and numerous other diseases as well as some technology advancements.

One Geek actually built his computer with that in mind.  He thought about what he could do for the world.  Sense his computer just sits there when he’s not doing anything, why not put it to use?

This Geek also took and built his computer out of Lego parts.  This is intriguing for a lot of Geeks out there who love Lego.  In fact, one could go as far to say it’s intriguing to a lot more than just the Geek community.

Minecraft and Laziness

Most of you know that I play Minecraft.  Lately, I’ve been a bit lazy when it comes to producing Youtube videos though.  I’m going to have to work on that.

Tomorrow, I’ll be away from the computer for about a day and a half.  So, I’ll have no access to the web for that time frame.

As soon as I get back, I’ll be uploading more minecraft videos and more vlog videos as well.  I’ll also start on the Budget Software and Games reviews that I said I was going to do.

I’ve been working on my novel, plucking at it.  The planning stages, that’s what you do with it.  Pluck at it.  The only way to get things done, is one step at a time.  This, happens to be small steps.

I’ve got to start taking more action and get stuff done.  I can’t create a community without creating stuff for you guys to read.

On Hold

Well, this bites.  Another piece of my computer is falling apart.  Yep, my DVD Burner is going bad.  What’s the deal?

Some of you may remember my first piece of software to test and review was supposed to be Encyclopedia Britannica.  Yep, that failed.  I took back the software to Staples, only to get a replacement that had the same issue.  I tried installing another game, Sim City 4, which also happened to be a failed attempt.

So, I tried a few things.  Took apart the DVD Burner and cleaned the lens.  After putting it back together, no success.  Grrr.  It was a pain to take apart to begin with.

Updating the firmware was a big failure too.  I had to go through a site that wasn’t the official site of LiteOn, which is the DVD Burner manufacturer.  Maybe that had something to do with it, but hey, was worth a try.  Doesn’t do LiteOn any good to not be able to update the firmware.

The last thing I did was delete the register keys, uninstall the driver, and reboot.  Nope, notta.  Yet another failure.  At this point the frustration is building.  So, I tried one last thing.

Instead of a CD-Rom game that I had, I tried one of the DVD-Rom games I had.  Spore was the choice of game.  Put it in the drive……  Success.  The DVD was recognized and I was able to install the game.  My first review, just might be of Spore.

After reading a few forum post, from tech forums, I’ve come to the conclusion that my DVD Burner is on its last leg.  Going to have to get a new one, but I’m not sure when that will be.

I now have two options.  Continue with Spore and check out some free games online.  Yes, free fits the Budget category.  Or put the whole budget games and software route on hold.  I know though that’s not what you want, so I’ll be checking out games online that I can download and what not.  Stay tuned.

You Know You Spend To Much Time Online When

you change your desktop background almost daily.

you rarely turn off your computer.

you get hemorrhoids because you’ve been sitting at your computer so long.

a weekend of time spent offline feels like a nice break

you *do* take breaks from the computer, you psychologically schedule yourself to come back when the “4-hours” are up and you can replenish your Slot Game [or insert your favorite game here] tokens!

every time you leave your desk you take both your iPad and iPhone with you, just in case…and your car lighter charger

your dust bunnies have become dust elephants!

you don’t understand the meaning of “too much time online”

you’re too busy online to answer this question and simply go “huh??”

you get cankles from sitting for too many hours. (don’t worry, it’s temporary)

you think it’s Tuesday but it’s really Monday?

you search for the like button on your car radio

you search for reviews for things when you’re at the store.

you turn to your computer to look something up and realized you already are sitting at your computer.

the first thing you do in the morning is turn the laptop on.

you don’t ever have to turn on your computer
