Kickstart Your Own Private Concert?

Is it possible to Kickstart your own private concert?  With “Hear It Local” it is.  Recently they’ve added features to help you book bands and help you raise the funds for the concert.  These bands are generally local bands and are more affordable than big time bands.  No problem booking right?  Even with the help of Hear It Local, setting up an event can be a big challenge, larger or small.  Here’s an excerpt from the article….

Cleaning Out Your Ears With Peroxide

If you’re like me, you get clogged ears from time to time and you need to clean out the wax in them.  I just got done cleaning them with Peroxide.  It works rather well for that purpose.

You probably shouldn’t use Peroxide if you have a ear infection.  It might make it burn a little.  Here is a good ehow article on how to clean out your ears.  Just click on the image to take you straight to the article.

Although the article is a good one, I think they over dramatized the whole process a little bit.  Yeah, sure, you get a little bit of bubbling and what not, but if you won’t get no where near the uncomfortableness that the article appears to perceive.  Enjoy.

Twitter Hashtag Tools

When browsing Twitter, you may have noticed hashtags.  What are hashtags?  They’re easy ways to spread your message out to a larger following.

You can also follow hashtags and have conversations with them.  Hashtags always have a # symbol in front of their name.  That’s how Twitter determines it’s a hashtag.

Hashtags are also a great way to increase your Tweet count.  If you’re not sure what to Tweet about today, just look up a hashtag.  For example; if I wanted to learn something about a random person today, I might use the hashtag #30thingsaboutme.

When I search for #30thingsaboutme, it brings up everyone who is using that hashtag.  You can see what people are saying about themselves and it can give you an idea of what you might say yourself.  You might even use the #30thingsaboutme hashtag to let others know more about you.

Using hashtags is a great way to meet more people on Twitter and increase your following.  Not only that, if you have a Klout, then having conversations with people will increase your reach, which overall increases your Klout score.  Therefor, using hashtags can increase your overall reach in Social Media.

Some people say don’t over-use hashtags.  I say that one should use hashtags accordingly.  Forexample, if I was posting a post about #Dogs, I would not use a #Cats hashtag in my post.  But, perhaps I would use the hashtag #Knine.  The hashtag needs to be relative to the post at hand.

There are some Hashtag Tools that you can use to your advantage.  For example, by clicking on the image below, it will take you to an article that goes over 6 of those tools.  Included in this article is the Trendsmap site, which allows you to see trends by location on a map.

Making Great Tea

Often times when people make tea, they tend to make it the wrong way.  Ever notice how some people’s tea is just strong and others are kind of so so?  There are things you want to watch out for when making tea.

– Never ever boil your Tea.  Tea is not meant to be cooked, it’s meant to be Steeped or Brewed.  You’ll want the temperature of your water to be just before the Boiling put.  For me, this is often the number 4 on my stove nob.  Turn it on high, then turn it down once the bubbles start to appear in the bottom of the pot.

– Don’t cook your Tea too long.  A lot of people cook their Tea way too long.  This causes bitterness in the Tea and makes it unbearably strong.  We don’t want this.  We want a full flavored Tea and not have the bitterness.  Set your timer on the stove and turn over the tea bags half way through the cooking time.  I recommend 6-8 minutes.  For a full flavored Tea that’s not overpowering, go for the 6 minute mark.  If you like your Tea a little stronger, go for the 8 minute mark.

– Never add sugar to Cold Tea.  It just doesn’t work.  Maybe a little, but Sugar best dissolves when the water is still warm.  Therefor, you’ll want to add the Sugar to your Tea when the water is still hot.  Right after you take the Tea bags out and turn off the stove.  This ensures that the Sugar gets mixed into the Tea and you get the most out of your sugar.

I like to use 1 Family size Lipton Black Tea bag to make a Gallon and the Tea turns out just fine with this Method.  I also add 1cup of sugar to my Tea, often times, this is plenty for most people.  You can adjust the sugar according to how much Tea you’re making, 1qt, 1/2 gallon, etc.

Keep to these simple tips and you’ll be making great Tea every single time.

Everyone has their favorite Food.  What’s yours?  I happen to have a wide variety of food taste.

I love foods from all over the world.  My philosophy?  “Variety is the Spice of Life.”  Literally.  But what about my all time favorites?

There are downsides to having a large amount of food that you like though.  Sometimes, you don’t know what you want to eat.  Ever had that happen?  You’re out and about and it’s lunch time, you happen to be with someone and they ask, “What do you want for lunch?”

It never fails, half the time, you can’t figure out what you want to eat.  So, you settle on the next restaurant that comes by.  Where’s your favorite place to eat?

What do you do with your computers spare time?

Many people do what they need to do on their computers and just go about their day.  What if you could put that computer to use actually providing valuable data to the Scientific community?

This program will allow you to take part in a minute way by allowing your computer to process information for Scientific Research.  These research programs include data on Cancer, Aids, and numerous other diseases as well as some technology advancements.

One Geek actually built his computer with that in mind.  He thought about what he could do for the world.  Sense his computer just sits there when he’s not doing anything, why not put it to use?

This Geek also took and built his computer out of Lego parts.  This is intriguing for a lot of Geeks out there who love Lego.  In fact, one could go as far to say it’s intriguing to a lot more than just the Geek community.

Some Mistakes of Vegans and Vegetarians

One might actually think that it’s easy to just get out there and change your lifestyle, but it’s not.  It can actually be quite hard for some people.

If you want to diet, exercise, and lose weight, there are some things you need to avoid as pointed out in the video below.

Those things are as follows:

Eating too much Fat.
Eating too much Sugar & Stimulants.
Not fixing enough of your own meals.
Not getting enough exercise.
Not being in a community.

For some, working out alone, might be alright.  For many, it’s the exact opposite.  Try to either create your own community, or join an existing one.  That will boost your confidence and willingness to get out there.

 

Restricting Calories – Why Your Image Is Important

When people go on a diet, they tend to restrict calories, or carbohydrates, or fats.  You can’t restrict your diet of any of those.  Each of these are primary substances that our body needs to run.

Every noticed how Self Image is important into today’s age?  Well, it’s important for many reasons.  Mental and Physical healthy being the primary reasons.

The image of who we are is important because not being in good health can cause stress, depression, and numerous other illnesses.  That’s not the lifestyle we need to live.  When you restrict calories in a diet, you’re jeopardizing that lifestyle.

The Raw food movement is gaining ground and more people are starting to take part.  If you want that sexy body you’ve been dying to get, then you might want to take some advice from this girl.

As you can see, Image is everything.  It’s the sole purpose of how we should be, how we should thrive.  If you’ve ever wondered how people can, or should look nowadays, just take a look at a Healthy, Active child.

Those children that run around outside as apposed to sitting inside all day, those are the healthy ones.  They have slim figures, and hardly any fat.  If you look at fitness models, that’s how we should look.  Slim, Trim, and hardly any Fat.  The only time you need Fat, is in Survival Situations.  Clearly, there is an abundance of food here.

Why risk the side effects of being over weight, when you can have a healthy, slim, fit body?

Biggest Reasons Why Americans Are Overweight!

Americans are said to be the most over weight, but many have a hard time figuring out why.  Why is it that many Americans are starting to be overweight and in worse health than the previous generation?  I think I have the answer.

Reason 1

Exercise….
Many Americans nowadays aren’t getting enough exercise.  That’s right, something as simple as exercise can have a big impact on our daily lives.  In the movie WALL-E, the people roamed around on hover chairs.  Who needs a wheel chair right?  Especially when the machine will do all the work for you.

Is that the kind of life style we want?  To be subjects who are limited in our mobility based on some machine?  Right now many kids are experiencing this because of Parents not letting their kids play in the park.  Instead, they’ll let them play Video Games all day and do nothing.

Now, before you go bashing Video games and start blaming the games themselves, maybe you should take a closer look a parenting.  I play Video Games myself, but that doesnt’ mean that Nerds can’t be fit.  I in fact have started a Cardio Routine, which will eventually turn into running, which in turn will turn into a Marathon.

I have goals, kids nowadays, don’t.  That’s partly because parents let their kids spend too much time playing Video Games as apposed to….well, playing.

Reason 2

Over Indulging…..
Many restaurants have started (in the last decade)  increasing portion sizes.  Now, they even go as far as encourage you to get a large or (in some cases) super-size.  In this case, bigger isn’t always better.  Tell me something.

Do you feel better now that you’re bigger?  Again, bigger isn’t always better.  My parents often times make two meals out of one meal when they go out to eat.  Why?  Many of these meals are filled with Calories.  Many of them over 1,000 calories.  That’s half a days Calories for most.

Reason 3

Quality of Food
Our food quality has reduced in the last 10-20 years drastically.  Farmers are basically killing the land that they farm one with all the chemicals that they spray on plants.  Therefore, we’re forced to look for alternatives: plants that are bug resistant, plants that yield more, and even plants that grow better in certain climates.

When you start tampering with plants: spraying chemicals, changing DNA strands, making them more volatile, something has to give.  So, where do we suffer?  In Nutritional Value.  I can’t stress this enough….

Life is too precious to tamper with.  By tampering with those plants, they’re tampering with our health.  Empty calories adds to our over all weight.  Really.  What else is our body going to use useless calories for?
