Kickstart Your Own Private Concert?

Is it possible to Kickstart your own private concert?  With “Hear It Local” it is.  Recently they’ve added features to help you book bands and help you raise the funds for the concert.  These bands are generally local bands and are more affordable than big time bands.  No problem booking right?  Even with the help of Hear It Local, setting up an event can be a big challenge, larger or small.  Here’s an excerpt from the article….

“Looking for a band for your tech conference, wedding, or launch party? San Francisco startup Hear It Local has just launched a private concert booking and crowdfunding platform that connects you to local musicians, just in time to catch the attention of the music crowd at South By Southwest. Smaller venues can also use Hear It Local to fill their calendars with great affordable bands.

Unique experiences are rising in value thanks to mobile devices and social networks that make it easy to share our attendance. As both individuals and big brands throw more events, and services like EventBrite make them easier to mange, Hear It Local could grow by bridging the divide between promoters and talent.”

Has Yahoo Gone Too Far Suing Facebook?

Yahoo is suing Facebook, but have they gone too far?  In my personal opinion, yes.  When it comes to the world wide web, how can one company patent so many patents that should be public domain for the world to use?

Now that Facebook has gotten big and decided to go public with the new Profiles, Yahoo decides to join the excitement and sue them.  Why is this a big deal?  According to Facebook,  “We’re disappointed that Yahoo, a longtime business partner of Facebook and a company that has substantially benefited from its association with Facebook, has decided to resort to litigation.”

Yahoo has been pulling the plug on it’s services one by one lately in an attempt to stay afloat.  Little do they realize, this is hurting them in the long run.  Because certain users of Yahoo only use certain features.  If Yahoo pulled Flickr today, I’d probably stop using them.  Although I’m still debating on not using Flickr anyway because of Yahoo’s actions.  This is childish.  Here is an excerpt from an article that I read….

“Yahoo has kicked off the biggest patent battle in social networking history by suing Facebook over 10 patents. Facebook pledged to defend itself forcefully amid speculation Yahoo is trying new ways to raise funds as its ship is sinking.

The Yahoo Inc. lawsuit filed Monday covers advertising, privacy controls and social networking. The move comes after the former web giant threatened to sue Facebook last month, saying it would seek licensing fees from the social network over the use of its patents.Yahoo also said other companies have already agreed to such licensing deals.

It is reported that only two of the 10 patents at issue are directly related to social networking technology. For example, one patent cited by Yahoo covers a method for people to communicate through a virtual entity, “enabling users to easily share their experiences,” according to patent filings. The rest concern online advertising, including methods for preventing “click fraud,” as well as privacy and technology for customizing the information users see on a Web page.”

The Grand Chinese New Year

I’ve always wanted to go to the Chinese New Year.  It’s actually a bit different than the rest of the world.  We celebrate New Years on December 31st – January 1st.  This marks the beginning of a grand New Year, where many make a resolution to change something in their lives.  Many also fail to accomplish their resolutions.

The Chinese New Year is a bit different though.  In 2012 it fell on January 23rd.  Which was recently, however, next year in 2013, it will fall on February 10th.  While I missed the chance to go to a Chinese New year in the special Water Dragon year of 2012, I plan on making the next one.  Here are a few photos of the Chinese New Year linking to a lot more.

Coal – What’s it Worth?

Every year people die in the most dangerous job in the world.  Coal mining is considering one of, if not the most dangerous.  Even in the “Western” world, with our “Modern” mining techniques, it’s still quite a dangerous job.  So, why are we still mining for coal?

One of the obvious reasons is Coal is cheap compared to other resources such as gas and oil.  The other reason is that many power plants that we have run off Coal and it’s a necessity pretty much to have power.  If you didn’t have power, you’d have no iPad 2, no iPhone 4S, no Computers, no Internet, etc.  Many of these things we use on a Daily basis.

Maybe it’s time that we started looking for other methods of producing power such as: wind, solar, water, there are other options, we just need to be more creative and make them not so expensive.  That’s another reason why we haven’t moved on to other power sources, the cost.  Below are a couple of images related to the Coal mining.  Click on them to see more.  Both take you to the same article.

Think Americans Pay Less Taxes Than Europe? Think Again

Think you pay fewer taxes than Europeans?  Think again, with all the hidden taxes, and cost that Europeans get from paying their taxes, most Americans might actually pay more than Europeans.  At least most Americans get less for the same amount of money that they spend.  If Americans wanted to provide the same quality of life that Europeans did, we could theoretically do it for less, if certain people weren’t so greedy.

The only ones that get the true European Life Style are the Politicians in America.  They get better Healthcare for less money, better retirement plans, and pay less taxes than we do.  How is that possible?  Most Americans think Europeans are unhappy with their high taxes, but why is it that Americans are unhappy with the quality of life they are receiving?  Most Europeans are actually quite happy with their lifestyle.

If you think you’ve got it tough, then perhaps you’ll want to consider moving to France or England.  Much better lifestyles over there, fewer work hours during the week and less stress.  Staying healthier has never been easier in Europe where they have huge Organic Food movements.  They are much smarter than us too, Americans healthcare and education systems are in turmoil.  Maybe it’s time for change?

Read this article to find out more.  America vs Europe

Perhaps it’s time we started looking at not “If we should raise taxes,” but how the government is spending our taxes?

For example, if we took all that money that the government was giving to corporations just to encourage corporations to have Healthcare Insurance, and instead paid for everyone’s Doctor visit to the Doctors Office, then more people would go see their Doctor.

So, it’s not if the taxes should be raised, it’s more or less how you look at it.  If you look at it from different perspectives, you’ll find out just how much BS really goes on in the Government.  You’ll find out just how much you’re being lied to.

Happy 70th Birthday Muhammad Ali

Respect, Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, and Spirituality are Muhammad Ali’s core values. These six tenets have provided the foundation for a life that has touched millions of people around the World and has earned Ali the title “The Greatest”.

Perhaps if we adopted these six tenets.  We’d be much better of in this world.  Very good thing to learn here.

Is This Question Even Fair?

Is this even a fair question?

Is abortion an acceptable option for rape victims and women whose lives are in danger?

I had to skip that question. This is a tricky question. For example, Normally, I’d say no, that it’s not an acceptable option. The mother could be destroying the next great inventor, the next great cure, the next great leader.

However, we have to step back sometimes and look at the alternatives. If the Mother is really in trouble and her life is in danger, then sure, abort and have a C-Section, especially if the child is going to be born prematurely.

In that situation, you’re better off having an abortion, otherwise, the child might have to live with all kinds of conditions, or even be retarded. That’s something the Mother will have to decide. Would she be ok with the child living like that?

But, destroying one life for another, just so that person doesn’t have to live with the feeling or remember the rape or the victimization, that’s just as cruel and barbaric as a tyrant leader.

At least they woman can live a good live, knowing that they gave the child the best chance they could have. If you don’t want the child, don’t destroy it, adopt it out. Who knows, after carrying it for so long, she might even change her mind.

Most Common Problems Guys Have In Relationships

Most people look at single men and don’t think that they have the slightest clue about Relationships.  Truth is, you don’t have to be in a relationship(s) to know a thing or to about them.  There is this little thing I like to call Observation.

A single guy who has never had a single date, might know more about relationships than a guy who’s been on hundreds of dates.  See the big picture here?  The single guy can learn from every one of the dating guy’s mistakes, that is if he follows the Golden Rules of Learning.

Listen, Absorb, and Apply.  Those are the three Golden Rules of Anything really.

Let’s take dating for example; the single biggest problem I’ve seen with dating, is that Guys don’t (Listen.)  Yep, that one little issue is the single biggest cause of break ups in America’s Young Adults today.  Men just don’t listen.

They’ll completely ignore half of what’s said, one fourth of what’s said they only catch half of it, and the other fourth, men tend to be on the So So page.

What’s the So So page?  Men listen up, because you’ll need this piece of advice.  The So So page is when Men are listening, but don’t say anything or do anything.

For example: when a Woman offers a suggestions and the man just ignores it, merely because a Woman offered it.  That’s the So So page.  Ladies, this issue can easily be fixed……

Get A Bigger Stick!

Absorbing what you learn is a big part of life.  We can’t live with out learning, otherwise, we’d be a broken sponge.  That’s right, learning is a lot like a Sponge, first you have to absorb it, in order to use it.

But, don’t absorb too much, otherwise all that information will overflow and be lost, or simply put, useless.  It’s just like anything else you do, from time to time you need a break.

Applying what you learn is by far the most crucial part of any relationship.  If you do something wrong and you continue to do it, time and time again, of course she’s going to get pissed of or even leave your lazy butt.  Because either A) you’re not learning anything or B) you’re not applying what you learn.

See, absorption and Application work hand in hand.  If you’re out their and your Truck breaks down?  What do you do?  You learn what you need in order to fix the problem and go about fixing it.

Guys listen to this, because I’m only going to say it once.  Women, are a lot like Trucks, they need regular maintenance and lots of TLC.  Otherwise, you may as well hang up the hat and boot yourself out the door.

Relationships don’t have to be hard, nowadays, young adults tend to over complicate things.  Go simple, or go home.
